New ground-breaking perennial designed for EXTREME CONDITIONS
It’s a frustrating situation many hunters and land managers face every year: some of their best hunting spots have the worst soil. Or their rainfall is so low (below 30 inches) that there is not adequate moisture to support a good perennial forage crop so vital for their whitetail herds and other wildlife. With the toughest planting conditions in mind, the Whitetail Institute set out to develop a perennial crop that would not just survive ─ but thrive ─ in poor soils and under extremely dry conditions. And they succeeded with Imperial Whitetail Extreme, the latest seed blend scientifically developed by the Institute to appeal to a whitetail’s taste.
Thanks to years of research, painstaking genetic selection and careful blending of seeds, new Extreme can withstand a pH range of 5.4 to 7.5 and requires only a minimum of 15 inches of rainfall. It is also remarkably heat resistant and cold tolerant. In short, it’s a tough product for extreme conditions.
Most important, Extreme provides a high-quality protein-rich food source all year round. The kind of protein necessary to produce healthy deer and fawns and especially trophy racks in the critical 200-day antler-growing season.

Just as importantly, deer are extremely attracted to the seed blend. As a matter of fact, its attractiveness actually rivals that of the legendary Imperial Whitetail Clover.
After years of testing at hundreds of sites, Dr. Wiley Johnson and the Institute gave thumbs up to the seed blend and made it available to food plot managers all over North America.
Institute Director of Forage Research, Dr. Wiley Johnson describes the new product in more detail. “The primary component of Extreme is an evergreen forb. This is a very durable plant that produces a deep tap root which allows it to thrive in harsh climatic regions and grow up to 15 inches tall while maintaining high palatability. Along with the evergreen forb, the seed blend includes hardy varieties of chicory and clover. 
“It not only delivers protein, it’s extraordinarily attractive to whitetail,” Dr. Johnson continues. “As a matter of fact, at test sites around North America, deer crowded into Extreme food plots during all seasons. And many field testers observed deer in the food plots at all times of the day as well. Other wildlife, like turkeys, geese and rabbits are also highly attracted to the product.
”Planting dates for Extreme are similar to those for Imperial Clover and Alfa-Rack. Most areas can be planted in the spring or fall with a few exceptions. A 56 lb. bag of Extreme plants approximately 2.5 acres. There are also 28 lb. and 5.6 lb. bags available.
And like Imperial Clover and Alfa-Rack, Extreme can last up to five years without replanting, providing vital protein to whitetail herds’ season after season.

When our Field Testers asked us to develop a fall forage blend that would provide rapid growth, attraction and abundant forage in both the early and late seasons, the Institute was listening.  During the Institute’s customarily exhaustive research and development, the new Pure Attraction even surprised its toughest testers – the Whitetail Institute itself. 
We are exceptionally exited over the performance of the early-season part of this blend, which includes WINA Brand forage oats and winter peas.  As our Certified Researchers and Field Testers have repeatedly confirmed, WINA Brand forage oats outperform every other oat product test. 
Over the last year, many customers have tried the Whitetail Institute’s Winter-Greens brassica blend and have reported observing that their deer exhibited an overwhelming preference for Whitetail Institute forage brassicas over other brassica blends on the market.  Whitetail Institute forage brassicas are included in Pure Attraction and comprise its late-season segment, which provides deer with abundant, highly attractive forage through the coldest winter months.

PowerPlant is not a substitute for Imperial Whitetail Clover, ALFA-RACK or No-Plow, it is an additional forage to further enhance the health of your deer herd. PowerPlant simply increases the amount and diversity of protein-rich forage available on your property, and it grows in more soil types than clover. Its primary purpose is to offer deer the high-protein, antler-building forage needed during the antler-growing process.
A PowerPlant food plot looks and functions differently than other food plots. As the taller, structural forages grow, viney plants grow up the stalks. The support plants grow to a maximum height of 4 to 6 feet and prevent the beans and peas from simply crawling along the ground. Viney legumes that do not have a support structure will often become stunted and fall into poor health. The support plants allow the viney plants to rapidly regenerate and provide constant forage throughout the plot’s lifespan. A typical 1-acre PowerPlant food plot can produce more than TWO TONS of forage per year.
PowerPlant is easy to plant and establish. A 25-pound bag of PowerPlant typically covers three-quarters to one acre. After a soil test is done to determine the pH level, spread the appropriate amount of lime on the site to reduce acidity. Whitetail Institute products produce optimum results when pH levels are around 7. Disk the area thoroughly at least 4 to 6 inches deep. Disperse the seed and LIGHLTY disk or harrow the plot to cover the seed no more than 1 inch deep. Recommended plantings run from early May to late June, depending on location.
